Frog and Toad Make History [A Parody]: Friends Doing Their Best Through the Ages

Friendship is timeless, as Frog and Toad prove in this parody that invites readers to follow along and laugh as these classic characters are reimagined throughout world history from the author of Frog and Toad Are Doing Their Best.

With tender-hearted humor, author Jennie Egerdie transports us away from the chaotic present day with her latest parody, Frog and Toad Make History. She channels charms of Arnold Lobel’s iconic duo as she posits how they’d react to moments throughout history, starting as cave amphibians and continuing through ancient Greece, the Middle Ages, the Industrial Revolution, and more. Together, they arrive just a little too late to take in the sights of the Roman Empire. And of course Toad of panics during the Salem Witch Trials, spotting witchcraft everywhere. When newfangled telephones arrive on the scene, Frog can’t help but think he’s doing a great service to his friend by having one installed in Toad’s home.

Through these stories, it becomes clear that though the past may have been simpler times, they were no less chaotic. The key to getting by is approaching each new day with warmth, kindness, just a little bit of silliness, and―of course―having a best friend at your side.
